• Where is the store based?

  Honolulu, HI

• Do you accept orders placed outside of the US?

  Yes, we offer shipping to the USA, Canada, and everywhere else. We mention Canada because the shipping rates we work with cover these three destination possibilities.

• How long will it take to receive my order?

  Once shipped most domestic orders take anywhere from 2 to 10 business days to arrive depending on the efficiency of your local postal service. International shipping delivery times may vary between 2 and 12 weeks.

• How much is shipping?

  A HALEA test order from Hawaii and with a Printful shirt shipped via USPS Priority and arrived within a week. Tracking was available. Sorry at this point in time we do not have any rush services for shipping at our Storenvy store. Contact [email protected] if you want something really fast and are willing to pay the extra shipping, we could order directly from our account at Printful or Print Aura with what is called a manual order. Ditto for bulk ordering, where we might be able to save you a bit on shipping that way if you have need of >10 shirts at one go.

• Why are you on Storenvy and why am I being charged a "handling fee"?

  The HALEA Store is on Storenvy because of several factors: 1) It integrates well with Printful and Print Aura who put our custom color artwork on various products. This printing company does not offer a storefront so we had to choose an eCommerce platform. HALEA does not do enough volume to warrant a place like Shopify, who charge $29 per month for having a store. In all likelihood that will exceed our profit in any given month and literally eat us alive! Which brings us to 2) Storenvy does not have any monthly fee but they operate by taking a commission on our sales, which they term the handling fee you will see as you check out with your shopping cart.

  The Storenvy handling fee is on a sliding scale based on the total order value of the customer's purchase. Basing the fee on the order value ensures the fee is fair compared to what the customer is paying for goods. The current fee structure (11/2018) is:

  Orders $10.00 and below = $0.99
  Orders $10.01 to $30.00 = $1.99
  Orders $30.01 to $50.00 = $2.99
  Orders $50.01 to $100.00 = $3.99
  Orders above $100.00 = $4.99

  And finally 3) Some eCommerce platforms are pretty picky or quirky and may force you to participate in their open Marketplaces. HALEA did not necessarily want that type of exposure or pressure, and Storenvy allows us to opt out of their Marketplace. Presently we are just a Custom Storefront with better control over how far and wide we advertise.

• How much does HALEA make on these sales?

  For the moment, there is ~10% overhead built into most of the regular prices you see in our store. This is subject to change, up or down, but we will be transparent about it. HALEA strives to build funds for our Summer Picnic and Holiday Party. The more money we can make, then we can offer better food and lower prices for the events we charge for. Our Summer Picnic has always been free and will remain that way. Our Holiday Party used to be free until we started going to restaurants after our move to Ford Island. Now that we have discovered the Rainbow Bay Pavilions we hope to offer a free or very low priced Holiday Party starting in 2019, but that depends on you buying some HALEA stuff here!

• You have lots of cool products but I want a HALEA polo shirt, a different color rash guard, a dog shirt, and a v-neck shirt in a different color?

  We are working to add more products to our store, particularly from Print Aura who have a lot of products but a more cumbersome interface for adding items to our store. For the moment what you see is what we are able to get w.r.t. products and colors, but our offerings will be constantly changing so come back often to see new products. HALEA will be putting out the word for a bulk order of rash guards sometime in 2019 so please be patient but do send your specific requests to [email protected] so we know that you are interested. This will involve a different printing company probably CustomInk. There are no immediate plans for HALEA dog shirts but let us know if you are interested!

• Who made the HALEA artwork?

  Long answer coming... the genesis for this artwork came from the former CO of the NOAA Ship Oscar Elton Sette, Anita Lopez. In 2010 Lopez had a commemorative Sette coin made which had a version of this artwork on it and the ship on the other side. HALEA is not sure who the artist was that Lopez worked with. This artwork had the NOAA bird in the background, the 2 pelagic fish, a sea turtle and a monk seal, with Diamond Head and Honolulu city skyline on it. The PIFSC DO later had this artwork modified to have PIFSC spelled out around the artwork and removed the Honolulu city skyline from the right side. More recently in late 2018, HALEA hired graphics artist Kat Uno to remove the NOAA bird (to not confuse this artwork with some flavor of NOAA logo), add a cetacean, a bottomfish, some corals (shallow and deep), and a longliner fishing boat to better round out the research areas of PIFSC. We also morphed the yellowfin tuna to a bigeye tuna given our current research priorities. HALEA is extremely pleased with this new version of artwork that Kat Uno prepared and we pair it with many items in our store, along with a smattering of official logos from NOAA and NOAA Fisheries. We hope you enjoy the artwork as much as we do!

• How do I pay for my order? Is it secure?

  The Storenvy checkout process is powered by both Stripe and PayPal, two of the most trusted online payment solutions on the web. Because of this, Storenvy has all the same securities and payment fraud protection as these leading payment processors. We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express and Diners Club. If paying with PayPal, you may also make payments using your bank account, but this may delay your order.
